We hope the following can answer some questions about your portrait session with Murphy's Memories Photography. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to contact us.

Q. How long will our session last?

A. The typical in-studio session will last approximately 1-2 hours. This time varies by each individual depending on how many poses we do, outfit changes, children's moods, and so forth. It can also be extended depending on how long it takes for you to view your images and narrow them down to your favorites.

 

Q. What happens after the portraits are taken?

A. We will load your images onto our computer. Then we sit and view each image, picking out your favorites by expression and posing. You have the option of ordering while in the studio that day, or by picking out your favorites and letting us edit those and email them to you as proofs. Proofs will be extremely reduced in size and the word PROOF is placed across them. We do this carefully not to cover up eyes or expressions, but it may cross the face lightly. Your prints are guaranteed to be full quality, unlike the proofs, which are not in printable quality.

 

Q. When do I pay for my portraits?

A. If you choose to order the day of your session, payment is due in full at that time. If you choose to have your proofs emailed to you, you are required to pay a $40, non-refundable deposit. The $40 deposit covers our time, and is directly applied to your order if placed within the ordering window given. When ordering from your proofs, any amount over the $40 deposit is required when you place your order. You can drop cash or a check by the studio, or call us with a debit or credit card number. You may also mail us a check, but we will not place the order until your check has cleared.

 

Q. How long after my session do I have to order from my proofs?

A. If you choose to receive proofs, you have 2 weeks from the date of your session to pick which portrait sizes you want and place your order. If you believe you will need longer than 2 weeks, please notify us during your session. If you take longer than the allotted time without prior notification, you are forfeiting the $40 credit towards your order. Your $40 deposit is then considered a late order fee, and fee for our time in studio and editing.

 

Q. Can I re-order portraits from my session later?

A. Of course! We will offer the same pricing given at the time of your session for 2 months after your session date. Any time after those 2 months, the current price list published on our website will be valid for your order. We will hold onto your images for at least one full year after your session for any re-orders you may wish to place.

 

Q. What fees will be added to my session?

A. There is no session fee for in-studio sessions at this time! There is a $35 on-location session fee for sessions within a 30 mile radius of our studio. (Additional fees for further distances will apply). There is also a $5 shipping/handling fee applied to every order. This covers the shipping from our lab, to us and any handling involved. If you wish to have the prints directly shipped to you, a small fee may apply, please ask us about that individually. Otherwise, prints are picked up at our studio. North Carolina State Sales Tax is also applied to your order, and is currently 6.75%.

 

Q. What if I have don't have the internet or have family without internet?

A. We fully understand that not everyone has internet capabilities. If you or your family cannot access the internet, we welcome you to schedule a viewing session to view the full quality proofs before placing your order. Otherwise, you may want to plan to order at the time of the session.

 

Q. What forms of payment do you accept?

A. We accept cash, checks, Visa or MasterCard Debit cards, or Visa, MasterCard, or American Express credit cards. ***There is a $25 fee for all returned checks, plus any banking fees, and portraits will not be delivered until these fees have been recovered. No exceptions.

 

Q. How long will it take to receive my portraits after my order is placed?

A. Your portraits should be available for pick-up at the studio about 2 weeks after you have placed your order and payment is made in full. Orders to be mailed to your home may take longer than two weeks.

 

Q. Do you have a referral program?

A. We do! If you send a new customer to us (that we have never spoken to prior about a session), and they complete a session with a paid order, we will credit you with one complementary sheet towards your next session with us! At this time there is no limit to how many complementary sheets you can earn from referred friends/family. Please be sure they mention they were referred by you when scheduling their appointment.



* Each customer is required to complete and sign a contract at the beginning of their session. Our contracts are in place to protect both the customer and the company. They specify the customers contact information as well as detailing a model release of the images and a copyright notification to the customer. A copy of our contract will be provided to you, along with a copy of our current pricing list at your session. Please take notice that any scanning, copying or printing of your portraits is prohibited and illegal.

* Murphy's Memories Photography's goal is to make creative portraits for each individual, and to please our customers. We want you to be happy with your portraits and know that we take pride in what we do! Please let us know if you have any special requests ahead of time, so that we are sure to meet each clients needs.

* In editing your images, please let us know if you would like for us to remove any ‘boo-boo's' or blemishes. We will be glad to remove these at no additional cost to you. Extensive retouching may require additional charges, this includes braces removal and major retouching. Please ask us if you have any questions about this.

* We do allow clothing changes during your session, but please try to limit this to only 2 changes (3 total outfits) to reduce time.
